The mortal remains of Major General Vib-Sanziri is back

Accra, April 28, GNA – The Deadly Remains of
the late Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri, Chief of Mission and Force
Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF),
arrived in the country of Israel.

The body after a short prayer of the clergy
was received by the Ghana Armed Forces High Command (GAF) led by
by Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa – the Chief of the Defense Staff.

The officials present were Major General William
Azure Ayamdo – Chief of Staff of the Army, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama – Chief of Staff
Naval Staff, Vice Marshal Frank Hanson – Chief of the Air Staff and Major
General Thomas Oppong-Peprah-Chief of Staff at Headquarters.

Government officials, including; Dominic
Nitiwul – Defense Minister Ambrose Dery –
Minister of the Interior and Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey – Minister Delegate to
Foreign Affairs was also present at the ceremony.

Director General of Social Affairs, Ghana Police Service
and the widow COP Beatrice Vib-Sanziri was also present with a family
members to welcome the body.

The mood on this occasion was solemn when the
the body was taken to the military morgue.

The funeral and the final funeral are
should be announced shortly by GAF after consultation with the deceased
family.

Major-General Vib-Sanziri was appointed by the
Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in October 2017, at the head of
Multinational force.

He was the former director general of the
National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) from 2015 to 2017.
General Vib-Sanziri, at the age of 62, died suddenly on Friday, April 19, 2019 at
Eilat, Israel.
