MARIETTA, Ga. (CNN) – A suburb of Atlanta submerged their postman of love and appreciation last Wednesday.
Floyd Martin, 61, has served the Marietta district for nearly 35 years.
The locals decorated their mailboxes, hugged them, offered him presents and posed with pictures.
They brought covered dishes and the day – long farewells turned into a big block party that gathered more than 300 people.
Neighbors invited him in the fall to sit as a celebrity judge at the neighborhood's Halloween Parade.
They also launched a GoFundMe campaign to send him on a trip to Hawaii. Delta Airlines takes charge of the flight.
People around the world followed the Twitter feed on its last day.
