David Malpbad, the new president of the World Bank, said he wants to see China prosper, but that its activities abroad should be more transparent.
Mr. Malpbad, a long-time Republican, was chosen by President Donald Trump and criticized China in the past. But he told the BBC that China needs to strengthen the standards of its development projects with greater transparency of debt and better quality projects.
He said the World Bank would work with China on this.
