Apple has published cheaper iPhone prices on its Chinese website, but this will not be enough to stem the decline in sales.
As the quarterly results were announced by Tim Cook and Apple in January, the drop in sales in China has been cited as one of the major problems. Apple spoke about exchange rate issues and US-China relations, but the most immediate answer was that fewer customers were using iPhones and turning to more competitive Android handsets, s & # 39, is also revealed to be the case.
Since then, Apple is pulling backstage levers to try to improve the attractiveness of the iPhone portfolio, including reducing the wholesale price to encourage networks to increase sales. It seems that they have not made a significant difference.
Today, Apple has introduced a price reduction on the panel of the iPhone in China. & Nbsp;Hou Qijiang and Tang Ziyi report for Caixin Global:
Major e-commerce sites, such as Tmall and JD.com, have already lowered phone prices twice this year. Now the discounts are officially approved on the Apple website.
For the first time this year, Apple has lowered the price of the iPhone on its official Chinese website. On Monday, the smartphone maker dropped prices from 300 yuan ($ 44.7) to 500 yuan for all models of iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 7, according to its website.

Although this price reduction is aimed more at applying lower tax rates to the final product in the production chain, the vagaries of VAT will not be the result for consumers. They will benefit from Apple's discounted prices on the latest iPhones which, as everyone has reported, are not selling well.
That said, it may be the perfect place to determine the price of an iPhone? This may be the moment when the Chinese consumer looks at the iPhone and decides that it is the price at which it can compromise its search for high specifications and a new design. This may be the minimum change required to reverse Apple's situation?
Or maybe Apple has to realize that the Chinese market does not really buy in the walled garden of Apple's ecosystem.? Given that markets attach great importance to annual design updates, visibly high specifications and the ability for consumers to switch from one manufacturer to another on a whim, even a dilution of the concentration. Apple fanatical about the high prices will not be enough.
