The new golden age of Liverpool is just beginning, predicts Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp warned the rest of the Premier League that the Liverpool title challenge was just the start for his brilliant young team.

And the boss of the Reds think that his team will improve after getting long-term contracts with all its best stars and have fed some of the best young talents in world football.

"These 17, 18 players, plus the very young boys, are the team of the future. It should be like that. It's an investment, the club gave us the opportunity to do it – really nice, "Klopp said. "Keeping them all together, we would have a better chance of making the next step next season compared to previous years.

"The age group is good. This season will not end our development. It does not seem like we are losing a key player, it seems like the players are here with everything that they have, enjoying with the other boys, in the stadium, on the training ground. Everyone should expect progress.

"The club has given us the fantastic opportunity to bring exceptional players in and keep them."

Klopp thinks his tableware is far from over. With 15 of his key players, aged 27 and under, there is still much to be done, he said.

Andy Robertson is the last great player to have dedicated his future to Anfield by signing a mbadive new contract.

This means that all the best players are registered. Seven of them, including Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk, were hired until 2023 and four others, including Robertson, Alison and Joe Gomez, for another year.

Salah, Robertson, Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Origi are all under 25 years old.

Klopp said: "In general, it is always a good sign to extend contracts earlier. If we can keep these boys together, we are in full development, so that's good news for Liverpool. Really nice.

"Last year, we felt comfortable and were able to bring in the boys without losing players in the summer.

"Yes, we lost Emre Can, who was an important player, but we could replace him immediately by Fabinho.

"And Transfer Coutinho saw a world-clbad player leave but gave us the opportunity to recruit two world-clbad players. It's like that sometimes.

"We are still trying to make the next step and it looks like we have done it, but I only want to talk about this season. It's the most important thing we've ever played – because it's the one we're in.

"But there will be another one and we must make sure we are ready for that too."
