Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia approved the new sworn rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu.

He describes him as deeply intellectual and an excellent academician.

Vice-President Bawumia, who was the special guest at the inauguration of Professor Bonsu in Accra, recognized the intellectual capacity of the new Rector to take GIMPA to a higher level of excellence.

He pledged government support to Professor Bonsu to resolve the challenges and difficulties the Institute was grappling with.

Dr Bawumia recalled the brotherly love and camaraderie that existed between him and Professor Bonsu at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where both obtained various degrees.

The reminiscence of the good old days by the vice-president of the University of Vancouver, Canada in the 1980s kept the auditorium where the nomination took place alive with laughter and claps in support. of storytelling.

Professor Bonsu, in his inaugural address, acknowledged the vice president’s support and outlined three key pillars he intended to pursue during his four-year tenure as rector to restructure the University.

He mentioned income assurance, institutional restructuring and renewal, and ensuring quality research and education.

Professor Bonsu observed that GIMPA is currently grappling with an identity crisis, financial downturn and indiscipline, saying it would require a radical approach to address it.

He asked for the support of government, University board, staff, students and all stakeholders to realize his vision.

The chairman of the board of directors of GIMPA, Kofi Darko Asante, took the oath of office and secrecy to Professor Bonsu.

Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu succeeded Professor Bondzie Simpson.
