Mr Alex Boakye, Director of Standards and Quality Assurance at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) said the revised Tourism Law (2019) would expand the mandate of the Ministry of Tourism. ;Authority.
This, he said, would reposition the industry by ensuring strict compliance with current regulations regarding facilities and their management.

He added that the new regulations would boost the growth of tourism in the country and also guarantee the safety and enjoyment of customers.

The director said that when he invited stakeholders, including tourism operators and heads of municipalities and districts of the Volta region, to consider the draft law on the law. of 2019 on the regulation of tourist sites in Kpando Friday.

Mr. Boakye said the goal was to have sites in good condition and safe for public use to automatically generate the necessary notices to direct tourist traffic to the country.

Togbui Kodzoga V, the leader of Kpando Gadza, who chaired the forum, said residents of the region should pay more attention to its tourism potential and create opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

He said the region has invested little in tourism, especially in the central and northern areas, despite the abundance of sites and crops.

Togbe Kodzoga called on the GTA to collaborate more with local authorities to develop sites in iconic locations.

The new law requires best practices and standards in management, planning, access, services, security and safety.

These would include strict hygiene and maintenance codes, as well as records of activities, customers and staff.

The new law would reposition the tourism administration to bring recalcitrant operators to the reservation.
