The number of deaths from influenza AR is now 100

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The total number of deaths during the influenza season in Arkansas is now 100.

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) released Tuesday the report from Week 14, which ended April 6th.

The report shows three more deaths since last week. Of the total deaths, 99 were adults and one was a child.

For week 14, Arkansas reported a "regional" activity to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the geographic spread of influenza and a "low" or 5/10 intensity for influenza-like illness.

Since September 30, 2018, more than 32,000 positive influenza tests have been reported in the ADH online database by health care providers.

In week 14, 45 countries reported cases of influenza. The majority of them were from Pulaski, White, Crittenden, Lonoke, Sebastian, Independence, Craighead and Garland.

Of the influenza antigen tests used to distinguish influenza A and B virus types, 94% were influenza A viruses and 6% influenza B viruses.
