Cheeky nutmeg from Mavropanos
The pre-game warm-up is always a chance for Arsenal's substitutes to show off their silky skills and neat footwork, but it's usually Mesut Ozil that embarrbades his teammates.
Not this time, as Konstantinos Mavropanos stole the show in the substitute pre-match rondo.
As Arsenal No. 10 rushed over him, the young Greek defender simply pbaded him between his legs with an impudence he would have been proud of.
This is probably not something you would like to see Mavropanos try in the heat of the moment. We may know it sooner than expected, however, with an injury to Shkodran Mustafi that could give the Athenian, 21, the chance to take a first start.
Arsenal fans are already looking forward to Suarez
Supporters of Gunners eager to see a new addition in the window of January had to wait until the last hours of the transfer deadline to see Denis Suarez arrive on loan from Barcelona. The traveling fans at Etihad were determined to wish him the warmest welcome.
The craze sparked by Suarez's announcement in the composition of the pre-game training was greater than that of any other Arsenal player, and possibly to be even of some players of the City.
Unfortunately, visitor support failed to elicit the same enthusiasm when the Spaniard finally entered the match in the 67th minute. He then joined Aaron Ramsey a few moments after Sergio Aguero completed his hat trick and killed the match.
The reaction of Unai Emery for the purpose of Arsenal
Most of the spectators, and even Arsenal players, were taken by surprise when Laurent Koscielny scored a goal in the 11th minute in a corner that allowed visitors to access the level of the goalkeeper. Etihad. Unai Emery was not one of them.
Instead, he took advantage of the festive moments that followed Koscielny's strike to summon left-back Nacho Monreal, who was soon to find the subject of a long talk from his coach.
Monreal would then send a message to Matteo Guendouzi, who had started the first period slowly. Emery's words seemed to have the desired effect, as for the rest of the first half of the match, the 19-year-old was leading the midfield into a compound performance.
Warm ups without interest
Arsenal's substitutes are generally struggling to test in the meantime, but that was certainly not the case when City was putting pressure on what would be a third goal.
A trio of City replacements ran along the sideline, stretching out and doing everything in their power to prepare if Pep Guardiola called him. You can not say as much of their counterparts at Arsenal.
Suarez, Ozil and Aaron Ramsey seemed barely moving for a prolonged period, while they were supposed to warm up. Look rather Aguero group in the winner. Their inactivity hardly changed the course of the match, nor did it give the impression that they were desperate to enter the fray.
