The oldest man in England says the key to 111 is "avoid dying"

If you're wondering if you're going to live to old age or want this to happen, look no further.

The oldest man in England has exactly what you need: tips for living up to age 111, and it's a lot simpler than you probably think.

If you forget to eat healthy or exercise a strict diet, Bob Weighton tells you that all you need to do is avoid dying. Who knew ?!

As reported by ITV NewsBob celebrates his 111th birthday today (March 29th) in his retirement apartment in Alton, Hampshire.

Born in Hull in 1908 and a former teacher and engineer, Bob says that although the world has "changed dramatically" in his life, the men and women of his life have remained virtually the same.

The 111-year-old has had three children (two sons and one daughter), 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, but says he does not like too much trouble on his birthday.

He explained:

I do not like attention. I like meeting people I've never seen before, it's one of my pleasures. I like meeting people who have been places and understand a little what it means to be human.

Although he is the oldest man in England, Bob continues to shop and cook for himself; he regularly goes to the local supermarket with his walking aid, which now carries a new "Bob 111" registration plate to mark his old age.

Asked about his secrets, Bob explained:

By avoiding death – there is no other reason.

I had the usual fears, flu, flu, malaria, two or three operations; I should be dead but I am a survivor, if you will.

Now that he has reached the 111 mark, Bob asked to stop receiving the queen's birthday card because he had received enough.

He said:

I do not see why the state should pay for the queen to send all these things, it's not a personal thing. I thought that was enough, but I might consider another one next year if I live that long.

Like News from the skyBob shares his birthday and his age with the other oldest man in the UK, Alfred Smith, of St Madoes, Scotland.

Happy birthday to Bob and Alfred!
