The Bawku Central MP is now sighing as his only primary candidate in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency, Musah Abdulai, has withdrawn from the race.

The former municipal chief of Bawku announced his withdrawal on Thursday as a result of several calls from the "highest echelons of power" within the party.

Regional and national officials, as well as some NDC opinion leaders, reportedly asked Abdulai to withdraw in order for Mahama not to oppose the party's unity.

"I have considered their warnings, their wise advice and their advice as superior or superior to my own parliamentary ambition," he said in a statement announcing his withdrawal from primary school.

Mr. Abdulai explained that he was determined to put the party's interest in the foreground by making the decision to step down to allow Mr. Ayaraga to attempt to win the Bawku Central seat for the MP for the weather.
