German authorities on Monday found the bodies of three people, including one of Russia 's richest women, who were killed in a small plane crash near Frankfurt the day before.

The Russian airline S7 Group said that the co-owner Natalia Fileva was aboard the six-seater Epic LT single-engine plane that crashed on Sunday in a field near the small airport of 39, Egelsbach, near Frankfurt.

The economic publication Forbes.ru estimated Fileva's fortune at $ 600 million.

According to Russian reports, Fileva, who was co-owner of S7 with her husband, was traveling with her father.

German police said that there were two Russian citizens on board, but she has not yet provided any positive identification of the victims.

The plane took off from the Mediterranean city of Cannes, a popular holiday destination for wealthy Russians on the glitzy Côte d'Azur. The cause of the accident is still not clear.

The Moscow-based Interstate Aviation Committee, which investigates collisions involving Russian planes and other countries of the former Soviet Union, said in a statement that it had sent a group of experts to help the German investigation.

Based at Moscow Domodedovo Airport, S7 is part of the Oneworld alliance and serves 150 destinations in 35 countries. It uses 56 Airbus aircraft and 23 Boeing aircraft.

Fileva's husband, Vladislav Filev, is chairman of the company's board of directors, according to the third quarter of 2018 financial statements.
