INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – An upright piano used by John Lennon to write Beatles songs was sold at auction. Just "A day in the life" of the owner of the Colts of Indianapolis.
Jim Irsay tweeted On Saturday, he is "delighted" to own the instrument that Lennon had used to compose for the Beatles' album "The Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band".
The Indianapolis Star reports that the piano, manufactured in the 1870s, was auctioned on the GottaHaveRockandRoll.com website. The site estimated that it would sell for between $ 800,000 and $ 1.2 million. Until Saturday afternoon, the final price had not been announced yet.
Irsay calls piano ownership a "responsibility that I take seriously, thinking of future generations."
The Star says that Irsay had already bought guitars belonging to music legends Jerry Garcia, Prince and Bob Dylan.
