Little Perez and the look in which he drowned
A four-year-old boy drowned in a manhole located in the Fijai Hills, in the metropolis of Sekondi-Takoradi, in the western region.
Perez Quarm, a kindergarten student, would play with his colleagues from the area when he accidentally slipped into the newly built look left behind by the owner.
His father, Anthony Quarm, called by neighbors, rushed to the scene, plunged into the manhole to pull out the boy but was pronounced dead a few minutes later by doctors of the 39, Effia Nkwanta regional hospital.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 18 hours.
Traumatized, Mr. Quarm, pastor of the Central International Gospel Church in Apowa, confirmed the incident at Connect FM.
He said that he was with his son all day at home but decided to take stock of his car in a mechanic shop.
"It was less than an hour since I left the house when I received a call saying that my son had fallen into a manhole. I quickly rushed to the scene and plunged into the manhole that had collected the rainwater, "he said.
The father said he had failed to save his son when he first plunged into the water. When he dipped again, he said, his touched leg hit the boy and finally managed to get him out of the water.
They immediately took him to the regional hospital Effia Nkwanta, but were declared dead a few minutes after their arrival.
