The US Department of Defense said Defense Secretary Mark Esper was reviewing the application process for the US $ 10 billion computer contract.

Donald Trump criticized the process, citing complaints from other companies as potentially biased towards Amazon. The e-commerce giant and Microsoft have competed for the contract, known as the joint venture defense infrastructure company, or Jedi.

In a statement, Pentagon spokeswoman Elissa Smith said that no decision would be made regarding the program before the end of the review. Esper previously stated that he wanted to look closely at the Jedi contract.

The Washington Post reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources, that the White House had ordered the Pentagon's review. The founder and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, is the owner of the post office.

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
