MANILA, March 19 (Reuters) – The transport regulator in the Philippines announced Tuesday that it was rejecting the call by Indonesian Go-Jek to launch a reminder service from more than a year after rejecting Go-Jek's initial claim invoking local ownership criteria.

The Land Transport Regulatory and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the resolution of the Accreditation Committee "denying Velox Technology Inc.'s request for failure to meet the citizenship requirement", told Reuters Martin Delgra, chairman of the board.

Go-Jek applied for a license to operate in Manila in August through its wholly owned subsidiary, Velox. This request was denied in January, as the buyout of grill was added to a list of sectors where foreign ownership is limited to 40%.

"Go-Jek is disappointed with the LTBFR's decision to reject our request for reconsideration and our offer to address the urgent need of Filipino commuters for more transportation options," a spokesman for the Indonesian company told Reuters . "We will now explore our options."
