He revealed that the Saudi authorities had provided brand new luxury buses to transport Ghanaian pilgrims to and from various destinations during Hajj activities.

Housing, he said, was secure and advised future pilgrims to abide by the rules when allocating rooms. He said the pilgrims would be fed a variety of food during their stay in Mecca.

"The council has taken all the necessary steps to ensure the comfort and well-being of the pilgrims before, during and after the rites of Hajj."

Regarding security, Sheikh IC Quaye said that over the years, the board of directors faced a particular challenge: Ghanaians in the diaspora were seizing hotels and other facilities for pilgrims from Ghana.

According to him, this prompted the committee to ask its own security personnel in Ghana to control the situation, which the Saudi authorities agreed to.

However, the first flight for the Hajj 2019 exercise will begin on Wednesday, July 24th this year.

6,000 Ghanaians, excluding the Hajj board of directors and some selected security agencies, are expected to conduct the Hajj 2019 exercise in Saudi Arabia.
