Police CAP PAC 30, which is non-contributory, is a form of pension plan

Seth Ablosoo, a trade union expert, wants the government to retrace the steps taken to transfer the staff of the Ghana Police Service from CAP 30 to the Social Security and National Insurance (SSNIT) pension scheme.

CAP 30, which is a non-contributory scheme, is a form of pension plan inherited from its colonial master, which appeared in Chapter 30 of the 1950 British Colonial Orders (Pensions Ordinance No. 42).

Ablosoo told TV3 Midday Live on Thursday that, from experience, "it's not just the security agencies, but all members of the public service who participate in the CAP 30 are better than the SSNIT."

Although the scheme was supposed to have been abolished with the entry into force of the National Pensions Act (766), pbaded in 2008, the government has refrained from doing so.
