Pra River began to brown after Galamsey
Government intervention to stop illegal small-scale mining has helped the water bodies, but it's too late.
The beautiful river suddenly became muddy and heavily polluted because of the "galamsey" activities.
The river that flowed unhindered is now stagnant.
The Pra River has for years been an important source of drinking water for dozens of communities that stretch along its course.
Richard Kwadwo Nyarko visited Twifo Praso and was held on Twifo Praso Bridge overlooking the river and brought us these images of the sad situation of the river:
