The president of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad, was questioned Thursday morning by the French authorities in Paris, said FIFA, the governing body of world football.

Ahmad, a former Malagasy minister, was reported last month to the FIFA Ethics Committee for alleged corruption and badual harbadment by CAF Secretary General Amr Fahmy, who was subsequently fired.

According to these allegations, Ahmad allegedly forced CAF to buy sportswear through a French company rather than directly from the manufacturers and at inflated prices.

"FIFA is not aware of the details of this investigation and therefore is not in a position to comment on this particular issue," FIFA said in a statement.

"FIFA asks the French authorities for any information that may be useful for investigations in its Ethics Committee."
