When Superman IV: The quest for peace actor Jon Cryer was named as Super GirlThe new Lex Luthor is just the latest in a long series of crazes for the Superman family that the series has made … but some fans have been confused.
After all, Cryer is best known for his humorous work and Lex Luthor is usually a rather dark character. Executive Producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner tell ComicBook.com they're excited to see fans Pretty in pink the actor has in store.
Rovner laughed that Lenny Luthor was "very different" from Lex's version that Cryer will bring to Super Girl.
"But Jon Cryer is just a phenomenal actor, and he has that sparkle in his eyes," Queller added. "He's masterful, he's funny, he's just going to kill him."
As for Kara, she will be forced to face the most disturbing nemesis of her cousin at a time when Superman himself is on the outside of the planet and without his powers. This is linked to interesting stories.
"I think she feels the challenge," Rovner said. "I think that with Lex, it's the big leaf of her cousin, and I think she's feeling responsible for bringing to justice a character like that one in one more way." Great if she was with Clark, she does not want to ruin it. "
The story of Lex should touch many people, especially Lena (his sister) and James Olsen (Lena's boyfriend and Superman's best friend). This will likely join the stories of The Elite, Ben Lockwood and Red Daughter, the producers making fun of the fact that seemingly disparate arches from one season to the next come together unexpectedly at the end of the season.
"I think what's great with the second half of the season is that we told a lot of different stories early in the half of the season," Rovner said. "We are creating others, but all our stories come together by the end of the season, so everything has been done to design and they are facing a conflict of which we hope it will be a very exciting resolution. "
Super Girl broadcast on Sunday evening at 8 pm ET / PT, before the episodes of Charm on the CW.
