A 1,000-metric-tonne warehouse is being built as part of the One District One Warehouse initiative in Wa East District, Upper West, to prevent losses. after harvest and to promote mbad production of food crops.
He comes with a security post, a waiting room where people would stay until their goods are cleared, a shop, an office, a laboratory and a fence wall.
Mr. Ansuar-Dean Nanjo, site manager for Sambix Construction Limited – the contractors, said the work began in August 2018 and was due to be completed in February of this year.
The project is one of seven currently under construction in the region.
Alhaji Sulemana Alhbadan, the regional minister, reviewed the state of progress of work and said he was satisfied with what he saw.
He asked the contractors to do everything to ensure that the work was completed on time.
Wa East District is one of the region's "food baskets".
He added that the completion of the facilities would significantly reduce post-harvest damage – prevent the products produced from becoming waste.
"We produce enough, but the problem now is how to store it," he added.
The project, along with other interventions, aims to achieve the government's policy objective of developing Ghana beyond aid.
He called on everyone to make vision a dream come true.
