The public was urged to take all necessary precautions to ensure optimum safety during the rainy season.

"Make sure you listen to the weather forecast and plan your activities according to the rainy regime of the day," said Mr. George Ayisi, director of communications of the National Organization for Disaster Management (NADMO) .

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he said that during storms, people should turn off the electric gadgets and disconnect the plugs to avoid electrocution caused by currents flowing through the water.

He added that those in flood-prone areas should also move to safer grounds with their valuables, to the extent possible, to avoid injury and property damage.

Mr. Ayisi testified that NADMO was serving the public 24 hours a day, adding that members had to dial NADMO Speed ​​Dial 999, or 0299350030, for badistance at any time.

Torrential rain last Monday caused flooding in parts of Accra, killing at least two people and destroying many properties.

The country is currently experiencing its rainy season. The Ghana Meteorological Agency announced that rains would peak in June, while there would be more frequent and longer rains.
