The latest Marvel Netflix shows are officially over.
"The Punisher" was canceled after its second season and the third season of "Jessica Jones" will be the last, confirmed Netflix on Monday. The announcement comes after Netflix has given the ax to his other Marvel series: "Daredevil", "Iron First" and "Luke Cage".
"The Punisher" from Marvel will not be coming back for a third season on Netflix, "said Netflix in a statement." The legendary Steve Lightfoot, the excellent crew, and his outstanding cast, whose star Jon Bernthal, have presented an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, we are proud to present their work on Netflix for years to come, and when revising our Marvel lineup we decided that the third season to come would be the last season from Jessica Jones, from Marvel, we are grateful to director Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter, and all the amazing actors and season team in this groundbreaking series, which has been recognized by many Peabody Awards We thank Marvel for his five years of successful partnership and thank the pbadionate fans who have been following this series since the beginning. Marvel TV's director, Jeph Loeb, also issued a letter to fans soon after the announcement, thanking viewers and saying, "Our network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue tell the stories of these great characters … but you know Marvel. better than that."
After the other cancellations, the news is hardly a surprise. "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" were canceled last October and "Daredevil", Netflix's first partnership with Marvel to make its debut in 2015, was canceled in December, despite a third season well received.
This decision comes as Disney prepares to launch its own streaming service, Disney +. This project is already aligning several large-scale projects, including character-based series of Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki, Scarlet Witch and Falcon, in addition to the show "The Mandalorian" of "Star Wars."
However, Disney + should not give fans hope that the Defenders will fight soon. Sources said Variety Last year, the transaction for Marvel's original four shows prevents characters from appearing in any property other than Netflix for at least two years after their cancellation.
The deadline has first reported the news of cancellations.
