Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are respectively known as the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Susbad. Every woman got her royal title from the queen when she was married to the royal family. However, unlike Princess Diana, the two women are never qualified as princesses. In the end, there is a reason for that.
Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William
Before marrying William, Kate was a commoner, that is, she was not part of the royal family and had no royal title. However, after marrying William, new royal titles were awarded to them: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. This meant that William and Kate were now the sovereign rulers of Cambridge, a city in England. The dukedoms given to members of the royal family are partly the way these members earn their money. For example, Prince Charles is the Duke of Cornwall, a title he won in 1973. It is now worth about $ 400 million, mainly because of revenues from the region.
Meghan Markle became Duchess of Susbad when she married Prince Harry
When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, they both won the Duke and Duchess of Susbad titles. The Queen gave them titles on their wedding day – the same as William and Kate. The new titles meant that Harry and Meghan were the sovereign rulers of Susbad, a county in southeastern England. Once again, it is here that the duke and the duchess will receive a good part of their revenues; they take advantage of the region's revenues, mainly related to real estate.
Camilla Parker Bowles chose not to take the title of princess as a form of respect for Diana – and because the public did not like it
Meghan and Kate are known as duchesses, as is Camilla Parker Bowles, who is married to Prince Charles. After the death of Princess Diana, Camilla and Charles waited a moment before getting married. Then, when the day came, Camilla did not choose to take the title of princess. It's because of Diana. The title became closely badociated with Diana and, out of respect for her and to prevent the public from loving her less, Camilla instead chose to become the Duchess of Cornwall. When the first two get married, the public does not have much love for Camilla.

married to Charles, it became a royal protocol that those who marry princes
now become duchesses rather than princesses. Although the public wondered why
Kate did not receive more than one royal title in 2011, people understood that it was
because of Camilla and was expecting the same thing when Meghan married Harry in
2018.
