Tema highway rehabilitation works in the Greater Accra region are progressing regularly.
So far, about 90% of the 19-kilometer pothole correction work has been completed.
Estimated at 2.4 million GH, the two-year project that began in January 2018 consists of sealing potholes with asphalt in the internal transport of the multipurpose road.

He added that because of the density of the road, work was generally done on Sundays to allow free movement of vehicles on weekdays.
Use of concrete materials
Mr. Zakaria explained that the company was using asphalt for the patching operation in accordance with the recommendations of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), which had conducted tests on its use on concrete roads.
He said that the use of concrete would have resulted in a lot of traffic on the road, as it would take longer for the concrete to dry and become compact.
"When you use concrete to repair the highway, you will have to wait between 14 and 21 days for it to harden properly, depending on the concrete volume.
"And that will cause a lot of traffic jams and the fastest way to fix it is to use asphalt. Once we put the asphalt in the potholes, we open the road and when traffic begins to move, it helps to make the road more watertight, "he added.
He added that with the completion of work on much of the inner apron of the highway, the company was now using premix to achieve the surface ceiling of potholes and trenches along shoulders of the road.
According to the Director General, 20% of this ancillary work was completed and, once completed, would not only help preserve the main highway, but would also allow emergency parking of vehicles that failed on the main highway. -this.
"In addition, a smooth shoulder along the highway will allow vehicles that develop flat tires to easily move away from the inside cart to that part of the road to prevent accidents," he said. he adds.

Some motorists on the road shared their experiences during the rehabilitation work.
