Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are reunited as a couple more than 20 years after their divorce, according to reports.
The second son of the queen would be back in a relationship with his ex-wife, although not all family members are happy.
Andrew and Fergie, both 59 years old, remained famous after their divorce in 1996 and lived together while raising their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.
Last year, Fergie said the couple "never really left" and is "the happiest divorced couple in the world".
But Fergie joined her ex-husband late last week after making several royal visits abroad.
The couple stayed in Bahrain during a private tour, but was the official guest of his host, the Crown Prince of Bahrain.
This is the Duchess of York's first royal visit for more than 25 years and is seen as evidence that she is increasingly part of the cabinet.
According to the couple's friends, it is common knowledge that the couple is now "friend with benefits", because it is neither frequented nor bound to anyone.
Royal sources said that Prince Philip was their main obstacle.
The queen's husband was reported to have been furious with his daughter-in-law after being photographed being sucked by businessman John Bryan's toes.
However, the Duke of Edinburgh would have softened and now simply "it does not bother them" if Andrew and Fergie are officially reunited.
The Queen has always been fond of Fergie and has invited her to Balmoral for the last few summers.
In fact, Prince Charles would be the only person who could have thrown a key.
The heir to the throne would fiercely oppose Sarah becoming a member of the royal family again.
She has sided with Princess Diana in the acrimonious divorce with Prince Charles and is told that she is afraid of trying to make money from her royal position.
A source told the Sun: "Charles does not agree with Fergie. He can not stand it in reality.
"He thinks she's already been embarrbaded by the royal family and that her relationship with her brother has been tense.
"They do not hear each other personally.There is so much luggage because he feels she has sided with Diana over Camilla all these years.
"The fear with her is that she will never stop promoting herself and looking for ways to make money with her royal position."
Last week, it appeared that Prince Charles was trying to rationalize the royal family and was trying to dismiss his brother.

Prince Andrew and Fergie married in 1986 and welcomed Beatrice in 1988 and Eugenie two years later.
Andrew's naval career often forced them to spend several months apart. They finally broke up in 1992 after Fergie was photographed bad, having his toes sucked by US financial adviser Bryan.
Despite this, the Duke and Duchess of York remained close and have always lived together at the Royal Lodge of Windsor.
Even though their children have now grown up – and Princess Eugenie married – the couple has never ended their lifelong relationships.
In the early years, it was said that they both went out with other people while sharing the manor.
But now they are both single and their daughters would be very happy to revive their relationship.
Princes William and Harry support their cousins Beatrice and Eugenie and there will be no problem for their aunt to become part of the family again.
Prince Harry insisted that she be invited to her wedding with Meghan Markle last May and they are now neighbors as a result of her move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate.
Fergie was at the center of the royal wedding later that summer of her daughter Eugenie with Jack Brooksbank.
She was not wrong foot before the wedding and was placed next to the old opponent Prince Philip on the official royal photo.
Speaking of the Yorks and their alleged new relationship, one source said, "The critical point is that none of them sees anyone else right now.
"But Fergie wants nothing more than to officially return to the royal family, because she never really wanted to leave."
