Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, considered the richest man in Africa, said Saturday in front of a forum in Cote d'Ivoire how he had already withdrawn $ 10 million in cash from the bank, just to watch it and convince him that it was good real money. numbers on paper.

"When you're young, your first million is important, but after that, the numbers are of little importance," said Dangote, a manufacturing magnate of various flour cement companies at the Mo Ibrahim forum in Abidjan.

"One day, I cashed 10 million euros, I put them in the trunk of my car, I put them in my room. I looked at them and said to myself, "Now I think I have money" and I brought it back to the bank the next day, "he told his audience.

In addition to anecdotes, Dangote said agriculture and new technologies are the two most promising sectors for Africa's future. But he advised young African entrepreneurs not to be swept away by the first successes.

"We often spend our projected income in Africa. There are ups and downs in business, he warned.

Dangote regretted the customs and administrative problems that hinder business development across the continent.

For example, he cited the difficulties faced by his cement group in exporting Benin's Nigerian factories located 40 kilometers from the border. Benin instead imported "more expensive" cement from China.
