TThe Royal Navy must accompany British flag ships in the Strait of Hormuz to protect them from the Iranian attack, the Department for Transport (DfT) announced today.
HMS Montrose, a Type 23 frigate, reportedly carried out the first mission last night after the DfT policy change.
He advised shipping companies to give sufficient advance notice of their travel plans in the region. Ships can be grouped into convoys or escorted individually depending on the number of people crossing the strait on a given day.
