Nissan Motor is facing an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) if the automaker has accurately disclosed its compensation in the US, Bloomberg said, citing sources.

The regulator also examines whether the company has maintained adequate controls to prevent undue payments, according to Bloomberg.

A Nissan spokeswoman said the company had received a request from the SEC and was cooperating. The SEC was not immediately available to comment on the case.
