Abdul Fatawu opened the scoring in the second half to give Asante Kotoko S / C a 2-0 win over Ashgold S / C in a match between the Ghana Football Association. (GFA) and the Normalization Special Cup at Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.
The visitors, who had not conceded a goal in their previous three games, entered the match with great confidence and constantly maintained pressure on their opponents with incessant attacks.
Goalkeeper Felix Annan almost left the Miners frustrated with his brilliant saves throughout the first half, but the biggest were scored in the 24th and 28th minutes when his timely interventions prevented Safiu Mumuni from scoring.
Kotoko reworked his cards in the second half, bringing Kwame Bonsu for Prince Acquah, while Collins Ameyaw replaced Emmanuel Gyamfi in the 58th and 67th minutes, respectively.
The Porcupine warriors took advantage of these substitutions while Abdul Fatawu scored a shot against a corset in the 71st and 76th minutes.
Both goals were well developed from the midfield and were obtained following two quick counterattacks that saw the striker punishing the Miners for a poor score.
Ashgold mounted a series of incursions to seek consolation in the final phase of the match, but could not pbad in front of the impregnable defensive network of the Porcupine Warriors.
