The strange reason why Liverpool defenseman Andy Robertson needed an operation

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Andy Robertson had been operated on because he had been bitten by an insect.

Robertson returned to Melwood on Saturday morning alongside Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gini Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk.

However, the left-back was unable to participate in the normal tests and exercises that were performed with his right hand to eliminate an infection.

Robertson missed training on Saturday. Like the rest of the players who came back this weekend, he has never intended to play against Bradford City's team of League Two on Sunday. He will however travel with the team for the US tour next week.

And Klopp revealed the strange reason why the 25-year-old was operated on.

"It's not a chance he was bitten by something not so good – not a dog, I think it was a spider or a mosquito – and he was infected," Klopp told liverpoolfc.com .
