Sudan's ruling military council has proposed a meeting on Wednesday with organizers of protests that overthrew President Omar al-Bashir after the talks with the generals were suspended this weekend.
The council said in a statement that he was willing to discuss proposals from the coalition of groups behind the demonstrations for an immediate transfer of power to a civilian transitional government.
The Sudanese Professionals' Association and its allies, who organized the four-month-long protests that led al-Bashir to power on April 11, have not yet accepted the invitation.
The SPA plans to announce its own civil transition council at mbad rallies on Thursday.
The protesters suspended talks with the military this weekend after the military council said it was consulting all Sudanese political forces on the way forward. The protesters accused the council of failing to break with the al-Bashir regime and trying to marginalize the SPA by describing it as one of many political factions.
The SPA claims that the head of the political committee of the military council and his chief negotiator, Lieutenant General Omar Zain al-Abdin, was the leader of the party of Al-Bashir within the army and tries to revive your diet.
Omer el-Digair, opposition party leader and coalition member, said the talks with the military political committee "will lead nowhere."
