The winner of an Oscar, Viola Davis, known for her roles in The Help and Fences, resumes her role as Amanda Waller in The Suicide Squad, according to TheWrap.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn wrote the screenplay and was hired to direct the film, which will premiere at the cinema on August 6, 2021.

Producer Peter Safran recently said in an interview that The Gunn Suicide Squad was not a sequel but a complete reboot.

"First of all, we do not call it Suicide Squad 2 because it's a total reboot, so it's The Suicide Squad and I think people should be extremely excited about it That's all you're hoping for from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know we'll deliver a lot, "Safran told JoBlo.

Margot Robbie would be back in the role of Harley Quinn during the restart, with the lead role in the next movie Birds of Prey in the role of her character Harley Quinn, whose release date is February 7, 2020. Idris Elba is also in talks to take over Will Smith's character from Deadshot.

It is reported that The Suicide Squad will take a whole new direction with Gunn in charge of the project. DC supervisors would be recruited by the government for missions too raw for superheroes like Batman and Superman.

Last month, it was announced that Gunn had been reinstated as director of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 months ago, after being fired by Disney for old tweets that had been recirculated on social networks.

Gunn's public apology, as well as the huge reactions of the fans and his Guardian teammates, persuaded Walt Disney President Alan Horn to reconsider his decision. However, Suicide Squad 2 is now on the front line for Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was pushed back.
