Accra, July 25, GNA – The Supreme Court of
Thursday unanimously cost two properties belonging to the businessman, Alfred Agbesi
Woyome, who claims to be a financier of the National Democratic Congress,
identified by the state, at a minimum value of GH 11.78 million.
Woyome had hired the state to pay him
about 52 million cedis earlier with a contract claim with the state but was
later discovered false and had been ordered by the court to repay the money.
Properties, a house in Trasaaco Estates,
and another in Kpehe were part of the badets identified by the state as intended for sale to
cover the GH ₵ 47.2 million owed to the state. He had already paid about 4 million GH.
from judgment debt to now.
The court also ordered the Land Commission to
value another property in Trbadaco Estates and submit its report thereon
August 30th.
In June of this year, the court ruled that the
properties identified by the state belonged to Woyome, and that UT's claim
Bank that two of the properties were sold to them was unfounded.
He then ordered the sale of certain properties
of Woyome, including the two mansions of Trasaaco Estate, a Kpehe house, a
office complex of Anator holdings, a residential building in Abelemkpe and
a stone quarry in the eastern region.
Attorney General's office had filed a complaint
request, inviting the court to adopt the minimum value of three of the
properties at GH ₵ 14.9 million. However, Woyome's lawyer in a response
challenge said value.
When the case was called Thursday, the Vice President
The Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Odame, requested the court to adopt the minimum value
provided by the judgment debtor because it was not completely different from
what the state had provided.
The court then cost two to GH 11,78
million and ordered the Land Commission to evaluate the third property, since Woyome
did not find any value for that.
The case was postponed until 16 October 2019.
