The Minister of Information badured PDS workers that their salaries for July and August 2019 would be paid to them despite the revocation of their employer's license.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told Joy FM's Super Morning Show on Friday: "My mandate is that it should not affect the distribution of power or people's wages."
The government announced Wednesday the suspension of the concession agreement reached between Ghana's electricity utility and Power Distribution Service (PDS), citing "fundamental and substantial violations by PDS".
This development has led the Financial Intelligence Center to freeze all accounts owned by PDS, revealed the Minister of Information.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah insists that this change will not affect the wages of PDS workers who worked for the July period and worked for the month of August.
According to him, the Ghana Electricity Company and Power Distribution Service are working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the necessary resources are released for this purpose.
"It's a very technical and sensitive exercise that continues. We do not expect this to affect wages in July and August, "he added.
