Mahama Arms Quiz Open Former President, John Mahama

Pollster Ben Ephson has urged the NDC's elected flag bearer, John Mahama, to resist the idea that President Akufo-Addo is at the center of his election campaign ahead of the 2020 elections.

He says that such an effort can turn against the president who decides not to participate in the 2020 elections.

Instead, Mr. Mahama should focus on the government as a whole and on his actions in order to lead a more comprehensive campaign.

"I will advise him not to focus on Akufo-Addo otherwise, once Akufo-Addo will have decided not to challenge 2020, he will no longer have any message, but he's concentrating on the government, all those who would challenge would carry the baggage and benefits of the government, "said Ephson. Starr News said Monday.

Mahama received 213,487 votes, or 95.23 percent of the total votes cast, to beat the other six candidates and lead the largest opposition party in the 2020 general election.

Professor Joshua Alabi, former vice-chancellor of UPSA, came in second, with 3,404 votes representing 1.52% of the total votes cast. He was followed by the second vice-speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, with 2,301 votes representing 1.03% of the total.

Goosie Tanoh earned 2,091 votes (0.93%). Sylvester Mensah, formerly of the NHIA, collected 934 votes (0.42%) with the former Minister of Commerce, Ekow Spio-Garbrah, collecting 1,447 votes, or 0.65%.

Nurudeen Iddrisu came last with 520 votes representing 0.23% of the total votes cast.

The total number of votes validly cast was 225,521, representing 99.20% of the votes cast, the rejected ballots representing 1,337 (0.79%).
