In his view, Mr. Bossman's comments on the EC's decision to establish a new voters' register were "regrettable" and contrary to peace and stability in the country.

"He has to go to GIMPA to find out more" he said in an interview with NEAT FM morning show 'Ghana Montie'.

The Electoral Commission (EC) announced the creation of a new register of voters for the general elections of 2020.

This announcement comes after a stakeholder meeting with the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) on Wednesday.

The NDC strongly denied that such a conclusion was reached and asked the Electoral Commission to withdraw the "misleading" and absurd statement.

Reacting to the NDC's claims on Eyewitness News, Asare hinted that the EC would not engage in any partisan jokes in the media, a comment that Elvis Afriyie was unwilling to make.

Dr. Bossman Asare, Vice-President of the EC, said Thursday in an interview with Citi Eyewitness News that it was only in the lap of the EC to determine if and when "a new registry would be needed", adding that the Commission provide a new register by 2020, regardless of the objections of a political party.
