WA social Ramadan ends 2 Muslims and Christians with Vice President Dr. Bawumia on a group photo at the residence at Wa

Muslims and Christians from the Upper West gathered to mark the end of this year's Ramadan, as a sign of unity among the religious community as they prayed and feasted together on Wednesday.

The leadership of the Council of Churches and the Catholic Church led by Fr. Richard Kuuia Baawobr and traditional religious leaders joined the Ahmadiyya, Allasuna and Orthodox Muslims to feast at the Residence after a mbad prayer at the park of the Jubilee.

The demonstration of unity and good neighborliness symbolized a stronger link between leaders of religious groups and also brought joy and happiness to security personnel and political leaders.

Vice President Mohamudu Bawumia, who was in the area praying with his Muslim brothers and sisters, was very happy to see such a spectacular link between Christians and Muslims.

"I urge all of you not to let the provocative agents destroy our unique way of life," Bawumia had already told a crowd of faithful ahead of the feast to drive up Eid ul-Fitr.

"I know you have heard of threats and attacks from Christian and Muslim disbelievers in the West African region and in other parts of the world" , he added. "We never want this phenomenon to happen in our country."

He also urged the public to report to the police any suspicious characters in their locality.

"While security agencies work to keep everyone safe, I encourage you to report suspicious characters who come to your communities to enjoy our welcome hospitality to unleash chaos on our country."

He urged religious leaders to maintain peace and unity in the region and to pray for the progress, development and prosperity of the country while the administration of President Akufo-Addo was striving to to "get things done".

Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih, Regional Minister of the Upper West, said he is delighted that Vice President Bawumia has traveled to the region to pray with Muslims and participate in the joyous Eid festival. ul-Fitr with the people to conclude the 30 days of fasting and prayer.

"It's the first time that a practicing Vice President has found it necessary to join us in the region to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr with us," he said.

He also said that the celebration of the end of Ramadan by various religious sects presented a positive sign to the rest of the world: Muslims and Christians lived in unity for a common purpose.

"This is a signal that we are sending to the world that Muslims and Christians are one and interact with each other," he added.

Alhaji Dr. Mohammed Bukari Suleman, Imam of the Wa Municipality Leader, who led the mbad prayer, said: "Praise be to Allah, the creator and support of the universe. With pleasure, devotion and love for Allah and His holy Prophet, we have successfully completed the fast of Ramadan 2019 ".
