CHICAGO (AP) – The University of Chicago Medicine has announced a $ 9 million donation to expand trauma care to help children and their families recover by going beyond treatment to include elements such as psychiatric counseling.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ellen & Ronald Block Foundation and the Hbadenfeld Family Foundation made this donation.
According to the statement, existing and expanding programs are based on the idea that "the trauma caused by violence must be treated holistically", with personalized care in the medical center, then up to the discharge from hospital and recovery.
The University of Chicago Medical is preparing to mark the first anniversary of the launch of adult trauma care. Its facilities have treated approximately 3,000 traumatized patients from May 2018 to March this year.
