Police in the Ashanti region have described as false a social media video in which a leader allegedly slaughtered a human being to sacrifice him.
In this video, Nana Appau Ababio Sanwansa, the traditional ruler of Hemang in the Ashanti region, seemed to be slaughtering what looked like an animal on the forecourt of the palace.
Dozens of people, including members of the police, gathered to catch the sacrifice.
In the video, one could hear a voice claiming that the leader was slaughtering a human being to pacify the gods of the city.
Police said that after badyzing the content of the video, she had concluded that it was a ram being killed.
They therefore urged the public to disregard the video.
"Meanwhile, the police questioned the woman who alleged that a human being had been slaughtered," says the statement signed by the regional police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyoh.
