DCOP Francis Ebenezer Doku
Volta Regional Police Chief DCOP, Francis Ebenezer Doku, was dismissed and appointed director of the police headquarters in Accra.
He will now serve as Director of Special Tasks.
His staff officer at the regional police command, Major Klay, was also removed from the area to take over the Gambaga District Police Command.
A police note dated January 21 signed by Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu, a copy of which was seen by 3news.com, indicates that the transfers take effect immediately.
No reason was given for both transfers.
DCOP Doku was removed from office following his recent statement that the police had identified a weapons manufacturing base in Alavanyo, but could not move there because of the high level of defense.
Mama Ametor II, a traditional Volta region in the Volta region, has also recently claimed that some police in the Volta region were engaged in marijuana cultivation.
She claimed that recent clashes between police and young people from Alavanyo Dzogbedze, which had resulted in the deaths of four people, resulted from a bad trade deal.
