Accra, July 20, GNA – In the strength of
The virtual world is its main weakness, Mr. Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, Executive Director,
The African Cybersecurity Digital Rights Promotion Agency (ACDRO), said.

He said in the cyber world, just as the
the real world, there were many risks and dangers; adding that financial
the crimes would occur whenever there was money to be made and for the criminals
and hackers would use all their efforts to penetrate the defense of
the cyber-world to fly or fly.

Mr. Adu-Amanfoh, who was speaking at the
second workshop on cybersecurity organized in Accra by civil society organizations (CSOs),
hackers could choose to attack customers and financial companies at any time and
anywhere because the virtual world is highly interconnected.

He said that cyber attacks could take a lot
different forms; indicating that the common method was to phish
attempts to mislead customers by disclosing their account information and
pbadwords, or to install malicious programs in computers and phones
steal their login credentials and then hackers transfer money from the
accounts of the victims.

The workshop was organized by ACDRO in
partnership with Global Partners Digital (GPD) on the theme "Making Our
National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy Citizen Center ".

The objective of the workshop was to equip
CSOs with specialized knowledge enabling them to contribute significantly to
National cybersecurity policy and strategy also need to be more citizen-centered
promote the digital rights of citizens.

This second CSO workshop follows the
successful organization of the premiere in February this year which has focused on
on the creation of consciousness.

"It's hard for us to imagine how fast
the digital and the internet technology have transformed the way we our
life, "said Mr. Adu-Amanfoh.

"Twenty years ago, many of us wondered
that online banking is widely accepted as a means of
channel of trust to conduct banking activities. Now, it would be difficult to
consider how a retail bank can survive a single day whether the internet or
Digital banking is down for some reason. "

He said given the virtual nature and
interconnection of the cyber world, clearly the security of the cyber world
would require a different approach and tools from those used in physics
world.

"In the real world, you would protect your
home and property by installing a safe door with a strong lock. You may want
buy a safe to store your money and valuables at home. Some may even
subscribe to an anti-burglary system. For those who take the security of their home
even more seriously, they can hire security guards on site just like kings and
queens who build heavily guarded forts to protect them and their families
the attacks of their enemies, "he said.

"Well, one thing is certain, all these
Security or safety measures do not come cheaply, but it's the price that people
know that they have to pay for the protection of their physical properties. "

He said that cybersecurity today was at the
tops the list of priorities in many countries and efforts have been made
around the world to mitigate the risk of cyber attacks.

He said the cyber threat was ubiquitous and
cut across all walks of life because the internet had become the main mode
communications today.

He said that although many are unaware, there is
multiple attacks launched from cell phones and personal computers
because of lack of culture of cybersecurity.

Mr. Adu-Amafoh said that the country could
perceived as fertile ground for the launch of cyber attacks while the
the threat and the establishment were medial measures would clear that
Perception.

He said that if the Internet had become a
powerful tool for information sharing, self-expression and communication, the
increase in cyber-threats outweighed the enjoyment of Internet rights and
freedom.

Ms. Lea Kaspar, Executive Director, GPD,
The purpose of the GPD Cyber Capacity Building Program is to facilitate
processes around the world more open and inclusive.
