513 women working in the food industry gathered at the Chances Hotel in the regional capital of Volta, Ho, to participate in the Women in Food and Agriculture Leadership Forum, 2019 (WOFAGRIC'19) .
The forum organized by the Agrihouse Foundation should build the capacity of women who make up the majority of Ghana's agricultural workforce.
The two-day forum aims to provide women in the agri-food sector with a platform for dialogue on impending issues and to find solutions to ensure that they benefit immensely from their respective efforts.
There would be group discussions, training programs, mentoring, mentoring and mentoring sessions, presentations on career opportunities for women in the agri-food sector, among others.
Participants should also benefit from a series of workshops to strengthen their capacity to increase their yields and develop their agri-food industry.
During the empowerment session, speakers already engaged in the agri-food sector and making progress in this area will share their experience of building their career, challenges and successes to motivate participants.
There will also be a panel presentation on the climate-smart agriculture approach and practices, aimed at providing guidelines for transforming and changing the agricultural systems used to ensure the safety and quality of climate change. food.
Participants in WOFAGRIC'19 would also be informed about how to start and manage an agri-food industry, informed about women's contribution to socio-economic change, agriculture for export, promotion and development.
Other topics to be addressed are marketing and branding in the agri-food sector, the appropriate use of agrochemicals and their products, support systems and best practices in agri-food promotion, management financial and job creation.
Various Ghanaian agricultural products and inputs would be on the margins of the forum.
