Additionally, Victor Smith, a close aide to former President Rawlings, revealed in a tribute how Mr Rawlings suffered from mood swings and was misunderstood by his political allies and opponents.

In his tribute, Victor Smith explains that the Late Rawlings “had mood swings and were sometimes predictable”.

Another revealing truth in the tribute was how Jerry Rawlings came closer to various death experiences both as a junta and a democratic leader.

“He had close encounters with ‘death’ at different times in his adult life until his retirement from the high office of Head of State.

Meanwhile, Asafo groups and the families of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings are calling for his body to be handed over to Anlo for the necessary rituals to be performed before his burial. The group petitioned the government through the Anlo Torgbui Agbedi Awusu Awadada. They were led by their spokesperson for Regent Torgbui Tamekloe, Mawuli Kplorfia.

If there is anything to know about Jerry Rawlings before his death, it is the fact that he had deep regrets.

General overseer of one of Ghana’s largest charismatic churches, Nicholas Duncan Williams has called for the “deep regrets” of the late founder of the Fourth Republic to be forgiven.

Relations between the former president and Nicholas Duncan Williams have been rich and much closer over the years, from his military rule to the Fourth Republic.

From the dismissal of military officers to the breathtaking killings and kidnapping of around 300 Ghanaians, the pastor explained that the former president shared various regrettable experiences with him.

Rawlings’ death saw the clergy of Ghana pay their respects. The founder of the Central International Gospel Church (ICGC), Mensa Otabil, took leave of his sermon on Sunday to pray for the family of the former president, Flt. Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings.

The clergy have been the target of criticism from the late president who has repeatedly berated them for their contribution to corruption in the country.
