The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Accra, Rt. Reverend Dr. Daniel SM Torto, prophesied a bright and inexhaustible future for the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking to worshipers at the church’s Easter Sunday service on Sunday April 4, 2021, RT. Reverend Toro said that “no man can dim” the vice president’s light, and urged him to stand firm and work for God and man because he is for a good cause.
“There is light in front of you and only God can turn it off. No man and I mean no man can dim your light… Your kind is the kind of political leadership we want as a nation. Leadership that recognizes that respecting people without distinction of faith, religion or ethnicity in a way that promotes national cohesion is what we desire and deserve as a people, ”Rt. Rev. Torto said that Vice President Bawumia joined members of the Anglican faith in Easter Sunday worship.
Referring to Vice President Bawumia’s continued engagement with the Christian community despite being a Muslim, Most Reverend Torto said religious tolerance and acceptance are hallmarks of a good leader.
“Today, we have the privilege of having among us the Vice-President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Even more refreshing and remarkable is the fact that he is a Muslim, but has chosen to worship with us on the day of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“I am proud to say that such a unique leader who believes in religious tolerance and acceptance is gentleman number two in my country.
“Mr. Vice-President, I do not intend to flatter you but I am simply saying that the whole world, all of Ghana and the Christian community are very interested in your humility, respect for people and how diligently you approach your work. Your kind is the kind of political leadership that we as a nation want. Leadership that recognizes that respect for people regardless of religion, religion or ethnicity in a way that promotes national cohesion is what we want and deserve as a people. “
He continued, “Good leadership is not about where FAITH belongs. It is not a question of whether one belongs to a minority tribe, ethnic group or religion. In fact, for us as Christians, the best gift that God has given us has not come from a tribe or a majority ethnic group. He did not come from the rich family either. Otherwise, the Virgin Mary would not have been the one who gave birth to Jesus. Mary and Joseph also came from minority and unrecognizable tribes and families and yet they gave birth to the Savior.
“I know God brought you from your humble beginning to this point for a purpose. Rest assured that his purpose for you in life on this earth is not yet fulfilled. Therefore, do not be disturbed by the words of those who can only speak of bad luck for your future. There is light before you and only God and turn that light off. No man and I mean no man can dim your light. We will continue to keep you in prayer and the Lord Jesus for the resurrection which you are celebrating with us today will surely come to your rescue at the right time.
