Thierry Henry left his position as head coach of the FC Montreal for family reasons.
The 43-year-old is back in London after 15 months with the Major League Soccer club.
Montreal was forced to move to the United States last season due to the coronavirus pandemic and Henry was unwilling to leave his family in Canada again.
Henry said in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I decided to make this decision. The past year has been extremely difficult for me personally.
“Due to the global pandemic, I was unable to see my children. Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions and the fact that we will have to relocate to the United States again for several months will not be any different. The separation is too difficult for me and my children.
“It is therefore with great sadness that I have to make the decision to return to London and leave CF Montreal.
“I want to thank the fans, the players and all the staff at this club who made me feel so welcome.”

Henry took over from Montreal in November 2019 and led the club to the MLS playoffs for the first time in four years with a record of eight wins, 13 losses and two draws in the regular season.
They also reached the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League.
Olivier Renard, CF Montreal sports director, said: “Thierry’s departure is unfortunate and premature because it was very promising, but he told me he wanted to come back with his family because the situation was and remains very difficult for him and his family. .
“I would like to thank him, first on a human level because he set an example for the players last year by being away from his family, but also in terms of sport and for what we have built together since his arrival. . “
Bournemouth asked for permission to speak with Henry earlier this month before appointing Jonathan Woodgate on a permanent deal.
