A policeman was shot dead by suspected gunmen at a checkpoint in the municipality of Sagnarigu in the North Region.
She was one of three officers stationed at a checkpoint near the gas station.
The three policemen from the checkpoint, one man and two women, were attacked by the thieves who shot the woman before stealing weapons belonging to the police.
The incident occurred near the Star petrol station around 10 pm. Tuesday night, according to Joy News sources.
The sources said the empty shells recovered at the scene of the incident show that thieves used G3 weapons during the attack.
The four thieves, according to Joy News sources, approached the checkpoint in an ash-colored sedan and were arrested.
The sources said thieves who were all armed, dressed in military camouflage and wore face masks and dessert boots suddenly shot each other and shot one of the female police officers killing her on the spot. .
The other police officer, trying to get under cover, stumbled and fell. His weapon and that of the deceased were seized by thieves.
The third officer, who then covered the cover, fired at the thieves but they managed to escape with both arms.
This will be the second time in less than three months that a similar attack is occurring in the city and that police-owned weapons are stolen.
Last Wednesday, a resident of Sagnarigu was also robbed under the threat of a firearm around 9 pm.
