A 52-seat Daewoo commercial bus bearing registration number GM-1755-16 was allegedly attacked by armed robbers on the Tarkwa-Takoradi highway.

The bus bearing the inscription "Immaculate Tours" on both sides traveled to Accra from Damang, in the municipality of Prestea Hun-Valley.

Information collected by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) indicates that on 9 July 2019, at around 12.30 pm, the Daewoo commercial bus, led by Frederick Mensah, was attacked between Nsuaem and Kyekyewere on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road.

The thieves, who numbered three, had previously attempted to steal a Man Diesel transport truck bearing registration number GT-8901-17 by loading manganese from Nsuta to Takoradi.

The driver of the truck, Patrick Adu Gyamfi, accelerated when the thieves ordered him to stop, which caused them to shoot at his truck and the windshield broke.

For fear of endangering the lives of the pbadengers aboard the Daewoo commercial bus, the driver who was behind the transport truck was forced to stop when the thieves had instructed him.

The gunmen then asked the driver and pbadengers to get off the bus and lie down on the road. They stole their money and other valuables.

When the Nsuaem District Police Command received the information and rushed to the scene, the thieves ended their operations and no trace of them.

A police source confirmed the incident to the GNA and said that an investigation was under way to find the culprits.
