Thieves hit a policeman, Bolt with his 80K ¢ on the N1 highway

Armed robbers attacked a policeman in uniform under the threat of a rifle in broad daylight on the N1 road in Accra, depriving him of 80,000 ¢.

According to eyewitnesses, the two men on motorbikes fired warning shots before locking themselves with the agent's money bag and key.

He added that they ordered the policeman and his friend to lie down, after which they had mastered them and took the money.

"The policeman is our friend and he comes to us … he had on him the money that he was going to use to pay for the duty of a car. He wanted my brother to accompany him and be his witness.

"He called one of the elders here and they were near the [Toyota] Land Cruiser talking when a guy came out with a gun and fired warning shots, told the witness to Joy News.

He added that the armed robber had asked for money and had quickly searched the policeman to find out if he had a gun.

They realized that he did not have any and asked for the keys to the agent's bike and they jumped on their motorbikes to escape.

One of the officer's friends at a nearby car dealership also told Joy News that he had heard the warning shots and rushed to the outside.

"The man I was going out of the office started screaming" armed robbers "when the robbery was going on. The agent had reported the money here just minutes before the incident.

The case still has to be reported to the Achimota District Police Station or the Tesano Divisional Police Command.
